Meet the new members to the Walker’s Logs team…
With demand for our kiln dried logs continuing to grow, we’re excited to introduce two new members of the Walker’s Logs team!
Rory has joined us as a production assistant. He also helps with local log deliveries during busy periods. When he’s not working hard at the yard, you’ll find him fishing or powerlifting.

George is our new firewood machine operator. When he’s not cutting timber, he enjoys taking his dog for long walks.

Grown In Britain
At Walker’s Logs, we want our customers to receive the highest quality kiln dried firewood. That’s why we’re proud to carry trusted accreditations. You may already know about Woodsure Ready to Burn, and this time we’re focusing on another important certification: Grown in Britain.

Grown in Britain is an independent certification scheme that promotes sustainable forestry across the UK. It identifies well-managed British woodlands and verifies wood grown under the UK Forestry Standard. The goal is to support local forestry, protect woodlands, and encourage responsible sourcing.
Benefits of Buying Grown in Britain Timber
1. Better Woodland Management
The scheme helps woodland owners manage their forests responsibly. This protects habitats, improves woodland health, and ensures sustainable harvesting.
2. Better for People
Sustainably felled timber is used in everyday products such as wood fuel, furniture, and building materials. Healthy woodlands also reduce pollution and provide clean air.
3. Better for the Economy
The forestry industry supports more than 64,000 UK jobs. Buying British wood keeps money within the UK and reduces reliance on imported timber.
4. Better for the Environment
Imported timber can introduce pests and tree diseases that harm UK woodlands. Choosing Grown in Britain timber reduces that risk. Well managed woodlands also support wildlife and help reduce flooding.
You can read more about the scheme and its environmental benefits on the Grown in Britain website.
At Walker’s Logs, we only buy timber that is certified as Grown in Britain. We never import wood from overseas and we only use high quality hardwood. Most of our timber comes from woodlands within 50 miles of our yard. This ensures that every delivery of kiln dried logs is responsible, sustainable, and locally sourced.
Get stocked up for the cold!
And just like that summer is over, and Autumn is here and the minus figure temperatures of winter will quickly follow! We have already noticed a large increase in the number of orders for deliveries over the past couple of weeks and our deliveries are quickly filling up. Our new Nissan Cabstar has been sign written with the Walker’s Logs logo and will be used for local deliveries. This creates more room for deliveries, but with the increase of orders and deliveries, we would advise placing an order and getting booked in for delivery sooner rather than later!
